MacroSource is one of the largest wholesale providers of pre-treated Enhanced Efficiency Fertilizers (EEFs) in the USA.
We provide pre-treated EEFs at many of our facilities and our sales force can help provide the best options to meet your needs.
Did you know?
Last year, MacroSource’s Catoosa, OK facility shipped over 18 million pounds of EEF’s by truck and rail to regional retailers and dealers.
The volume of EEF’s alone from Catoosa have helped protect against undesirable emissions equivalent to a potentials savings of:
4,856,055 miles per year driven or
2,190,425 pounds of coal burned or
85,047 propane cylinders used for BBQs or
52,211 tree seedlings grown for 10 years
Our nitrogen stabilized fertilizers contain the active ingredients NBPT & DCD, which are documented by University testing and defined by AAPFCO (American Association of Plant Food Control Officials) as urease and nitrification inhibitors.
Gavilon Fertilizer is a registered partner in TFI’s 4R Nutrient Stewardship. We have been marketing Enhanced Efficiency Fertilizers (EEFs) globally since 2007. Over the past decade, our treated nitrogen fertilizers have covered millions of forestry and row crop acres in the U.S. and abroad, which has helped to reduce harmful emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG), making more nitrogen available to the crop, which leads to higher yields.
Our EEF Product Line
The proprietary Gavilon brand of UREA or UAN pretreated NBPT, which is a defined urease inhibitor by AAPFCO since 1997.
The NBPT found in N-Crease is a substance that inhibits hydrolytic action on urea by urease enzyme. When applied to soils, a urease inhibitor results in less urea nitrogen loss by ammonia volatilization (AAPFCO Official 1997).
When unprotected urea is hydrolyzed by urease, much of the resulting ammonium is held on soil exchange sites. During this conversion, the pH rises and ammonia gas is produced. The loss of ammonia, termed volatilization, can be from nil to over 50% (1). Research suggests NBPT-treated urea can reduce ammonia loss by 50% to 90% when compared to untreated urea (2).
The proprietary Gavilon brand of UREA or UAN pretreated with DCD, which is a defined nitrification inhibitor by AAPFCO since 2000.
The DCD found in D-Crease™ is a substance that inhibits the biological oxidation of ammoniacal nitrogen to nitrate nitrogen. (AAPFCO Official 2001). This natural process in soils is called nitrification. IPNI recognizes DCD as one of the commonly used and best understood nitrification inhibitors. (3)
The proprietary Gavilon brand of dual mode-of-action UREA or UAN fertilizer pre-treated with NBPT + DCD for minimizing volatilization and nitrification risk.
Now dealers can count on above and below ground nitrogen protection.
The University of Illinois estimates that 4-5% of NO3- N will be lost each day the soil is saturated. (4)
Once NH4+ is nitrified to nitrate (NO3-), N is susceptible to loss by denitrification and leaching. Nitrification inhibitors such as dicyandiamide (DCD) ... can retard this conversion, reducing loss potential. When properly applied, inhibitors can significantly affect crop yields. (5)
The proprietary Gavilon brand of pre-treated UAN fertilizer uses NBPT (Urease inhibitor) and DCD (Nitrification inhibitor) as a nitrogen stabilizer.
Hi-Tec UAN solution is a smart fertilizer option when your grower’s nitrogen is surfaced applied or lightly incorporated. Hi-Tec contains the university documented NBPT urease inhibitor and AAPFCO defined DCD nitrification inhibitor to provide dual mode-of-action protection against undesirable nitrogen loss.
